PhD Position in molecular in vitro diagnostics

Fraunhofer IZI is one of the five Life-Science institutes of the Fraunhofer Society, which is focussed on molecular biology, immunology and stem cell research. The institute’s molecular diagnostics department has a close collaboration with Magna Diagnostics GmbH, a Fraunhofer spin off company, whose mission is to revolutionize diagnostic medicine by providing immediate, accurate point-of-care testing for infectious diseases.
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated PhD student to be part of our Assay Development Group. Responsibilities include performing, optimizing, and developing a variety of diagnostic bioassays and platforms in collaboration with institutes as well as the biotechnology industry.

If you have experience in the in vitro diagnostics field, this could be a very exciting position for you.

You will have:
a Bachelors degree in Biology, Clinical Lab Science, Biophysics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Bioengineering;
experience with microarrays and nucleic acid purification, amplification and hybridisation techniques
know how in assay development
excellent oral and written communication skills; and
demonstrated productivity in a laboratory setting.
In addition,
You must have excellent laboratory, data analysis and organizational, record keeping and communication skills.

A strong work ethic to generate high quality data under tight deadlines, collaborative and proactive attitude a must.
This is a fast-paced industry focussed environment which is not performing basic research, but product oriented development. You will be working on multiple, simultaneous diagnostics projects, so your abilities to manage time, interact with a variety of people, and adjust to changes will be important.
