A postdoctoral position is available in the Molecular and Cell Biology laboratory of the Program in Systems Immunology and Infectious Disease Modeling (PSIIM). The PSIIM is a new systems biology research initiative at NIAID designed to harness the power of modern data-rich technologies and computational simulation to generate predictive models of immune cell function. The program comprises integrated groups of researchers with expertise in computational biology, bioinformatics, proteomics, molecular/cell biology, immunology, and genomics. The PSIIM Molecular and Cell Biology laboratory is developing approaches for high throughput RNAi screening to identify key components of signaling networks in immune cells. Initial projects will use both validated and novel approaches to analyze signaling network architecture through high content screening. This approach will permit real-time imaging of single cell responses to pathogenic stimuli, and provide a valuable dataset for the development of predictive models of the host response.

Postdoctoral candidates should have a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and a strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals. A background in cell signaling and experience with development of cell-based assays for screening applications would be highly desirable. Applicants should be seeking a difficult challenge in which technical creativity and a strong desire to achieve in a team environment are critical for success. The position is available immediately and will be based on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and a stimulating interdisciplinary research environment.
