Center for Sex Research is currently engaged in the expansion of its resources for research under the programme of gender excellence, Nature / culture and Borders Transgressive meetings. Uppsala Research Center for Gender has developed rapidly in a single meeting place for the scientists and students with a range of disciplinary backgrounds. Since the start concrete and focused efforts made organizational and scientific border transgressions possible. These interdisciplinary research and education efforts became fast results and produced networks between the natural sciences and culture that now goes deeper. The objectives for the program of five years is therefore to maintain an environment that stimulates empirical research investigations and theoretical reflections on sex and gender knowledge is produced in the borderland between culture and the natural sciences in empirical research, theory development and education .

The Center for Sex Research is a unit of intense research, consisting of more than 30 researchers from different disciplines. We are now hiring a post-doctorate for full time, a year position. The chosen candidate has some kind of interest and competence proposed project at the intersection of gender research, scientific studies and animal studies. Animals have traditionally, with some important exceptions, was seen as “out” of gender and feminist concerns. Candidates in this area are welcome to focus on issues relating to the gendering of animals, as well as animaling of gender, biological and other investigations.

The person you are looking for may be coming from, for example, pedagogy, history of science, sociology, biology and ethology. The start date is early August 15, 2008.

Applicants should have a doctorate or equivalent, a strong record of achievement in research internationally in the study of women in science, and demonstrated the ability to publish in top-rated and magazines to present at international conferences. The candidate it is expected that in addition to working on his own imagination project also contribute to the design and implementation of the programme excellence.
