Applications Scientist - Proteomics

Here’s an opportunity to utilize your technical expertise in mass spectrometry and join Agilent’s Life Science Applications Support Group. We are seeking an enthusiastic, people-oriented Applications Scientist for Agilent’s Life Science and Chemical Analysis (LSCA) proteomics products portfolio. In this role your primary focus will be to provide customers with post-sales application and technical support to ensure their success and satisfaction. The typical customer workflow includes the Multiple Affinity Removal System (MARS), the Agilent 3100 Offgel Fractionator, Macroporous Reverse Phase C18 Column and Agilent 1200 HPLC-Chip/MS system. These tools expand the dynamic range of current LC/MS and electrophoretic analytical methods for analyzing complex biological fluids and can be used to customize workflows including protein identification, characterization or biomarker discovery.

Key responsibilities:
- Provide post-sales technical and applications assistance in response to customer inquiries for Agilent and Stratagene’s proteomics products portfolio: (MARS, LC, BioAnalyzer, Trap, TOF, QQQ and QTOF, TAP).
- Delivering customer consulting and application support both remotely and at the customer site when needed.
- Interfacing with customers to answer questions and provide training using Agilent LC/MS products.
-Developing customer workflow solutions that include the Multiple Affinity Removal System, the Agilent 3100 Offgel Fractionator, Macroporous Reverse Phase C18 Column and Agilent 1200 HPLC-Chip/MS system.

Additional responsibilities:
- Conducting in-house demonstrations to showcase our state of the art mass spectrometry products
- Assist the sales team in developing end-to-end solutions sales to meet the customer’s needs
- Contributing in the development of new applications for the Mass Spectrometry product line including writing application notes to highlight product capabilities and making contributions to recognized scientific forums, including written, oral and poster presentations.
- Promoting Agilent’s and Stratagene’s proteomics products and aiding in the training of Sales Force, as well as evaluating, and providing feedback to management on new products prior to release.
- Providing reports on activities in the field on a regular basis to Product Marketing and monitors technical trends in the markets we serve.
- Preparing and presenting technical seminars to customers, potential customers and works with Agilent’s Product Specialists to aid in the development of technical sales strategies.

Qualifications:

- PhD in Chemistry or Biology or Biochemistry or equivalent
- 5+ years lab experience in the field of Mass Spectrometry
- Experience with a broad range of LC/MS instrumentation
- Industry experience specifically providing technical support for a sales organization or providing technical seminars to an audience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communications skills
- Strong project management experience skills.

Travel: 10% of the time
