Vacancy 32/079-2e Within the Centre for Statistics at the University of Hasselt, the following positions (w / v) are available:
2 PhD researchers (2×2 year) Statistical Methods in Infectious Disease and Vaccine Research (mandates WNI/2008/008- 009)
Job Description:
Predoctoral research in statistical methods applied to vaccines, and infectious disease research. The research activities are part of an inter-cooperation between the VAXINFECTIO Institute of the University of Antwerp, and the Centre for Statistics, the University of Hasselt. The main themes are interdisciplinary research
I) to improve and / or increase the understanding of the immune system, and
Ii) strategies for resistance to antibiotics.
Profile:
- You have a strong quantitative background;
- You are intrinsically motivated, analytical and creative thinking and working in an organized and focused manner;
- You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary environment (statistics, medical sciences, life sciences);
- Experience in the use of statistical / mathematical software such as SAS, R, Matlab etc., is a plus.
Diploma
Degree, Master degree or equivalent in the (bio) statistics, mathematics, physics, bioengineering or related field.
Appointment
The appointment will take effect for half of June 2008 for a period of 2 years, extendable to a total period of 4 years.
