Key features of scholarships
Two scholarships per year of 5000 pounds each, to be provided in the form of fee reductions.
Available for students enrolled in a year of the master’s programmes in the areas specified below.
Intended for students who will contribute to economic or social development of their countries when they return at the end of their studies.
Awards will be made on the basis of academic merit (not financial need).
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- If nationals, and residents in one of the following countries: Brazil, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
Students currently studying in the UK (including undergraduate students and Sussex) are not eligible to apply. - Be candidates for a master’s degree in the following areas only:
Anthropology,
Development Studies (including the Institute of Development Studies)
Economy
Education
Women’s Studies
International Relations
Human Rights
Migration Studies - That had not previously been studied to grade level in the UK.
- It is classified to pay fees in the “overseas” rate.
Application
Applications should be made on the Economic and Social Development Scholarship application form.

Dear Sears,
My name is Marwan Faisal Tawfiq. I was born on 26/10/1976, in Baghdad, Iraq. After completing my study in the secondary school in 1994, I obtained an opportunity to get Diploma from the Institute of Technology, department of Chemical Industries. My specific study concentrated on Industrial Units Operation Section in 1996. Due to the requirements of Military serving for 18 months, I demobbed in 1998. Because of great interest to complete my study in Operations Research Science an attempt successes to get acceptance in Al-Rafidain University College, then I graduated in 2004, and grated the B.Sc. degree. In 2007, I awarded the M.Sc. degree in Operations Research Science from College of Administration and Economic, Baghdad University. The title of my thesis is, Applications of Multi-Objectives Optimality in the Petroleum Industries.
I would like continue my study in Economics and Social University Of Sussex in Operations Research department or any department similar to my specialty. However, I do not have certificates English language or any other language and in the same time, I need to a course study in any language for development my ability in speech, reading and writing. Please, I need to your assistant and I am ready to work and study, thanks you.
